It’s a real doozy! Basically, computers use something called an ’epoch’ to measure time. This epoch is set to start at midnight on 1 January 1970, and it’s used to calculate the time of day. But when 2038 rolls around, computers won’t be able to handle the date because they’ll run out of bits (the smallest unit of computer data) to store it. So if we don’t fix this problem soon, all sorts of systems could crash and cause chaos!
