Both Buddhism and Islam are strongly against drinking alcohol, since it can lead to a lack of self-control. In Sunni tradition, they say that “alcohol is the root of all evil and it’s the worst sin” (Sounan Ibn-Majah, Hadith 3371). But interestingly enough, wine is still seen as a special drink in heaven.
